About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Search Engineer to design, implement, and maintain high-performance search infrastructure that powers fast, relevant, and scalable search experiences across our platforms. You will play a critical role in optimizing search quality, indexing strategies, and real-time search capabilities using technologies like Apache Solr, Google Search, and Cassandra.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and optimize search solutions using Apache Solr, Google Search Appliance/Cloud Search, and Cassandra.
Enhance indexing pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
Develop and tune relevance ranking models, boosting strategies, and facets.
Collaborate with product managers and data teams to understand search use cases and implement scalable solutions.
Integrate search APIs into frontend and backend applications.
Monitor search performance, troubleshoot latency issues, and improve query execution time.
Build dashboards and alerts for search health and performance metrics.
Manage data consistency and availability in distributed environments (Cassandra).
Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in search engineering, NLP, and information retrieval.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in Search Engineering roles.
Strong experience with Apache Solr (indexing, querying, tuning, schema design).
Experience integrating and managing Google Search (GSA or Cloud Search).
Proficiency in Cassandra or other distributed NoSQL databases.
Programming skills in Java, Python, or Scala.
Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Strong understanding of search engine ranking, faceting, stemming, synonyms, stop words, and tokenizers.
Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) for search performance.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
Experience with machine learning for search relevance (e.g., LTR, vector search).
Exposure to streaming data pipelines (Kafka, Flink, Spark).
Experience in multi-language search, OCR, or semantic search.
