We’re looking for a highly disciplined, impact-driven Senior Data Scientist to join our team and lead the development of innovative models and attributes that power our analytics and insights.

What You’ll Do

As a key member of the team, you will lead data science initiatives across classification, prediction, and enrichment projects that support product innovation, commercialization, and educational transformation. You’ll collaborate across Data, Product, Business Analytics, and Executive teams to:

  • Build predictive models (e.g., salary predictors, demographic estimators)
  • Fine-tune and scale existing classifiers
  • Research and implement LLMs and NLP-based tools
  • Develop novel attributes and features that increase product value

Advanced Modeling & Innovation

  • Lead the development of machine learning models using internal and external data
  • Apply ML, NLP, and LLM-based models for data matching, entity recognition, and enrichment
  • Prototype and productionize features for research and product delivery
  • Collaborate with product teams to solve user pain points through data

Data Infrastructure & Tooling

  • Write clean, scalable, well-documented Python code
  • Work with AWS S3, Snowflake, Coiled (Dask), and other tools to manage large datasets and build reproducible pipelines
  • Explore and apply emerging AI/ML tools to improve workflows

Governance, Quality & Documentation

  • Follow rigorous documentation standards and versioning protocols
  • Conduct model evaluations, data integrity checks, and profiling
  • Partner with data engineering and QA teams to ensure production readiness and privacy compliance
  • Maintain a taxonomy of features, transformations, and business logic

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support research prototypes and audits with business and innovation teams
  • Mentor junior data scientists or analysts
  • Participate in roadmap planning and stakeholder conversations

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • 5+ years in data science roles, building and deploying ML models
  • Strong Python skills (scikit-learn, pandas, Splink, NumPy, spaCy, transformers, etc.)
  • Experience with NLP, LLM fine-tuning, and classification
  • Proven success building models that drive real business outcomes
  • Familiarity with AWS (especially S3), Snowflake, Coiled/Dask, SQL
  • Understanding of taxonomy design, entity matching, and model governance
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in EdTech, labor market analytics, or demographic modeling
  • Advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in a related field
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, FERPA) and ethical AI
  • Familiarity with version control, model monitoring, and technical writing
  • Background in working with large-scale datasets and AI-optimized pipelines
